The Beavers had a great time this weekend at the annual winter camp.
The day started with everyone completing a plan for something that they could later make from junk modelling. The main criteria was that it had to be a machine that could “do something”. There were some very creative, clever and detailed plans produced along with a list of the materials that they would need to use to make them.
Next the Beavers moved on to making sock puppets. They had a large selection of craft materials that they could choose from to make their puppets and what a great job they did. With the puppets created, it was time for each group to plan and rehearse a puppet show. This activity ended with each of the four teams performing their puppet show to the rest of the group. Some Beavers were a little nervous of doing this but everyone took part and did an amazing job. The puppet shows really were very entertaining.
The weather was so kind to us that we were able to get outside and play some games, plus they fitted in some team games inside as well. They all enjoyed chatting over dinner before then working together to get the dishes washed and dried. The evening was rounded off with hot chocolate, putting the tents up, pyjamas and teeth brushing before snuggling up to watch a film.
A very big thank you to everyone that helped out this weekend, we really do appreciate it. The biggest thank you of all though must go to Rowan for all the time she has spent planning, organising and creating another successful winter camp.
Thank you to the 22nd for joining us and making new friends. Each and every one of the Beavers should be very proud of themselves for everything that they achieved this weekend at winter camp – good job Beavers!
And an even bigger Thank You to Rowan, Hawkeye, Kirsty, Ann and all the parents who helped over the 2 days, especially those that attempted to sleep overnight.
