This January, we’re delighted to be launching a brand‑new Squirrel Drey at the 12th. Squirrels is the youngest section in Scouting, welcoming children aged 4 to 6 and offering a fun, gentle introduction before they move on to Beavers. It’s a wonderful opportunity for young people to explore, play, and learn new skills in a safe and supportive environment.
Squirrels is still a relatively new part of the Scouting family, and we’re thrilled to be opening this new chapter for our group. We’ve already held two taster sessions at HQ, giving children and parents a chance to see what Squirrels is all about. As this is our pilot term, the section is being led by a fantastic team of parent volunteers who are helping us bring the Drey to life. We’ll be reviewing how things go over the coming months, and if all continues positively, Squirrels will become a permanent part of the 12th in early 2026.
