Longridge water Activity Centre in Marlow, Water Camp, September 2025 written by Cam N
Day 1
When we arrived Friday evening, the leaders were already there and had laid out the tent bags for us. We set them up ourselves in small groups, while the leaders cooked dinner for us, which was hotdogs and hot chocolate. Then we all had some free time before going to sleep.
Day 2
On the second day, we all woke up early, and had breakfast (sausages, cereal, bacon, eggs, and beans). We did raft building in two groups and then had a competition on the River Thames. The camp director would throw a ball out onto the lake, and one group had to try to paddle over to grab it and throw it into the middle of the other group’s raft. After taking a quick break, we all went canoeing in pairs on the river, which was fun. Then we had lunch, which was sandwiches, fruit, and crisps. After lunch we all went dragon boating on the river, and one of the camp directors steered while we sang songs and paddled. We then went kayaking, before having dinner which was spaghetti bolognese. We then had an hour of free time, which involved sitting around a campfire, exploring the camp, and conker scavenging, before more hot chocolate and biscuits.
Day 3
On the third and final day of camp, we had breakfast (sausages, cereal, bacon, eggs, and beans again), followed by bell boating in two teams and had a race down the river. After this we took down all the tents (including the mess tent); picked up all the litter and pegs in the field we were in, and tidied up all our chairs. After all that, our parents came to pick us up.
Overall, the camp was a really fun experience, with great food, a big campfire, and fun camp directors that made the whole thing even better.
